Holly and Vanya met in the spring of 2020 as they were both employed at Stanford. Despite their very different backgrounds, they somehow found a shared culture immediately. If one would begin a joke the other would carry it along, and even obscure references were understood without question. While they still maintain some different interests, they share a love and passion to encourage each other to find and share joy in all parts of their lives. If Holly wants to go on a jog, Vanya will meet her on bike. If Vanya wants to go to the photography store, Holly will pick out candy for them while he is developing film. They have also grown together in many ways. Holly started her scientific career as a stem cell biologist and Vanya as a biochemist, yet they both have grown towards microbiome research. They can spend hours in a car or over coffee dates detangling their ideas. They love their shared life and seek out simple joys.
